9-Year-Old Gets A Special Gift At The Annual NH Make A Wish Event

MANCHESTER, NH - Hundreds of people gathered this week for the Make A Wish New Hampshire “Breakfast for Wishes” held at the DoubleTree Convention Center.

The breakfast is one of the largest events that Make A Wish New Hampshire holds to raise funds to help grant wishes to young children with medical issues.

During the program, many children who were granted wishes over the past 10 years were at the breakfast and talked about what they are doing now, and how Make A Wish New Hampshire helped them.

Izayiah Goodwin a young child who was granted a wish in 2020, and at the breakfast had a special interaction with a group of Manchester Firefighters.

Izayiah has always wanted to be a firefighter when he grows up. His wish was to have a firehouse at his home in Alton. Members of several fire departments, volunteers from the community and Zen tree works construction helped make his wish true.

The crew of volunteers came together and built the firehouse which came complete with fire gear, and hundreds of fire department patches that were donated that cover the ceiling of the firehouse.

Just before the team created the firehouse Izayiah was alerted of a fire on his street and assisted in notifying the fire department who responded and extinguished a fire.

Manchester firefighters wanted to make sure that Izayiah ’s firehouse like all good stations was assigned a number. He was presented with a plaque designating his firehouse as “Station 15” that was signed by members of the department. He got to tour several pieces of MFD apparatus outside the hotel and posed for a group picture.

Manchester Firefighter Denis Levasseur who was a significant part of getting the wish granted gave Izayiah a tour of MFD Rescue 1.
