PITTSBURG, NH — A Connecticut man was seriously injured in a snowmobile crash Tuesday when he was thrown from his rental snowmobile and went into a ravine.

A New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer was notified of a snowmobile crash on Corridor Trail 20 in Pittsburg at about 4:30 p.m. An emergency response was initiated by Pittsburg Fire and Rescue and 45th Parallel EMS.

Conservation Officers say the 21-year-old operator was from East Haddam, CT. He was operating a rental snowmobile traveling east on Corridor Trail 20. He was unable to navigate a downhill left-hand turn in the trail and thrown from his snowmobile landing approximately 20 feet down into a ravine.

The man was placed onto a backboard and with the use of the Pittsburg Fire Department snowmobile winch he was hoisted back up the ravine. He was placed on a rescue sled and brought to an awaiting ambulance just a short distance down the trail.

The victim was transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook by the 45th Parallel Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
