Major Pharmacy Taking Over 19 Rite Aid Stores, Prescriptions In NH
The deal to acquire select Rite Aid assets from the chain's bankruptcy was announced by CVS in May.
CVS Pharmacy is taking over select Rite Aid assets across the country, including prescription files from 626 stores in 15 states, the company said Wednesday in a news release. In New Hampshire, 19 stores are included in the deal.
The drugstore deal also includes the acquisition of 63 Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. In all, CVS purchased the prescription files of more than 9 million patients.
CVS said in an email to Patch the prescription files were purchased from stores in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont and Washington.

An online list published by Rite Aid shows some of that chain's prescriptions in New Hampshire were transferred to CVS. Other transfers include Walgreens and Shaw's Supermarket Pharmacy. You can see the full list of transferred prescriptions here.

“We’re helping maintain and expand access to convenient and trusted pharmacy care across the U.S. and growing our retail footprint and presence in local communities,” Len Shankman, President of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness for CVS Health, said in the release.
The deal to acquire select Rite Aid assets from the chain’s bankruptcy was announced by CVS in May. Rite Aid found more than a dozen buyers for its customer prescription files, including Walgreens, Albertsons and Kroger, but CVS was by far the largest buyer.

More than 3,500 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drug employees now have jobs with CVS. Most of the transferred Rite Aid prescription files are to stores within three miles of a former Rite Aid store, and nearly half are within a mile, according to the release.
