BOSTON - The large majority of Republicans who support former President Donald Trump are a daunting sight to the candidates trying to compete with him for the 2024 GOP nomination. But there's at least one significant weakness in Trump's appeal that's been evident since he first took office in 2017.

When we went to a diner in Billerica (one of the few Massachusetts towns Trump carried in 2016) to survey reaction to his first 100 days in office, there was one thing that united both supporters and critics.
"I hate the tweeting," said one fan. "Some of his tweets are kinda crazy," offered another.
