CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire Fish and Game responded to several snowmobile incidents over the weekend including two that left riders with injuries.

A woman crashed the snowmobile she was operating on Corridor 5 in Little on Saturday. Shortly before 1 p.m., Leslie Caribo, of Leicester, Massachusetts, drifted off the side of corridor 5 snowmobile trail in deep powder on the ungroomed section of trail.

Caribo was attempting a sharp left when the incident happened. Due to the deep powder, the machine would not turn and ended up in a ditch where Caribo came off the snowmobile and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A call was placed to 911 after the incident occurred and other riders in the area assisted Caribo while waiting for first responders.

The Littleton Fire Department and Ambulance, Littleton Police Department, and a conservation officer responded to the scene of the crash. Due to the distance of the crash scene to the nearest road, Littleton Fire Department used a tracked utility terrain vehicle to transport rescue personnel to the scene and Caribo out of the woods to an awaiting ambulance. Caribo was transported by Littleton ambulance to Littleton Regional Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of her injuries.

In Franconia, on Sunday a Conservation Officer was running radar near Franconia Notch when he was notified of a snowmobile accident approximately a half mile from his location by passing snowmobilers. The Conservation Officer responded to the area of Echo Lake where he located a snowmobile into a tree at 10:50 a.m.

The operator was identified as Andrea Gagnon of Chelmsford, MA. Gagnon had been traveling south on the Corridor 11 snowmobile trail through Franconia Notch when she swerved to avoid a collision with another snowmobile in a narrow section of trail and crashed into a tree.
