NEW HAMPSHIRE — A funnel cloud was reported Sunday evening in Manchester amid a flurry of tornado warnings across the state, according to the National Weather Service.

The funnel cloud was seen shortly before 6 p.m. traveling north on Interstate 93 halfway to the ground, according to the service.

New Hampshire was under a tornado watch until 8 p.m. The watch was extended until 10 p.m. for Belknap, Merrimack, Strafford, Sullivan, Cheshire, Hillsborough and Rockingham counties.

Just before 5:30 p.m., there was a warning for the area of Goffstown, Francestown and Greenfield until 6 p.m.

Shortly before 5 p.m., a warning was issued for Keene, West Swanzey, Troy and other nearby areas until 5:15 p.m. Just minutes after 5 p.m., another warning was issued, this time for the area of Troy, Marlborough and Nelson, also until 5:15 p.m.

The entire state fell under the watch, along with part or all of Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York. The watch was later updated to include parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island.

“A corridor of locally greater severe risk remains apparent across portions of southern Maine, VT, NH and west-central Massachusetts,” the weather service’s Storm Prediction Center reported earlier Sunday. “With the potential for a mix of supercells and line segments, the risk for tornadoes will exist.”

The weather service warned of a few tornadoes, possible ping-pong ball-sized hail and wind gusts up to 70 mph.

In Concord, showers and thunderstorms, potentially severe, were in the forecast for the late afternoon and evening, with showers possible into Monday.
