WINDSOR, NH — A young boy was rescued overnight Monday after becoming wedged in between two large boulders in Windsor, according to the Manchester Fire Department.

Authorities from several agencies were dispatched to Wediko Children's Services just before 12 a.m., where responders found the boy "conscious and alert and located approximately 4 to 5 feet down between boulders with narrow access to either side," officials said.

The boy was unable to move his arms or legs due to the narrow opening between the boulders, according to officials.

"Manchester's Rescue 1 worked in conjunction with on-scene Fire and EMS companies to clear a tunnel to the side of the boulders, which allowed a member to reach the victim's legs and assist with removal from the top of the boulders," officials said.

They used jackhammers, saw power tools, shovels, and a lubricating solution to help free the boy before he was "vertically hoisted" from between the boulders, according to officials.

The boy, who had been trapped for hours, only sustained minor injuries, officials said.

"The Hillsboro Fire and EMS would like to thank all of our mutual aid companies that assisted with the technical rescue conducted at Wediko Children’s services last night and well into the early morning hours," the department said Monday morning.
