Don't miss this throwback event in Amherst this weekend.
Love cars? You have only one destination this weekend.
The Amherst Lions Club will host their Third Annual Antique Auto Show this Saturday, Aug. 17 in the Walmart parking lot from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
This unique show will showcase classic and antique cars alongside tractors and trucks. The show is free to spectators, but donations are accepted.
Vehicles can be entered in multiple categories, including Best Tractor, Best Corvette, Oldest and Best of Show. An award ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. for winners in each category.
Food will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jake's Ice Cream will also be on hand for cold, tasty treats.
Chairman Don Potter said that the event, which has gotten bigger each year, has been hugely successful for the Lions Club. It has so far raised thousands of dollars to fund their community efforts.
In 2012, over $20,000 was raised by the Lions Club and given to organizations such as the Amherst Junior Women, Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, SHARE and the Souhegan Boys and Girls Club.
The Amherst Lions Club hosts multiple fundraisers throughout the year to raise funds for these and other charities and causes.
Potter said there is plenty of space for spectators and vehicles. Bring the whole family this great community fundraiser.
