Baboosic Lake Gets Funding to Move Playground

Amherst Recreation received funds through the Bertha Rogers Grant to relocate.

A local beach-lover noticed that the playground equipment on the Baboosic Lake beach got too hot during the day, and decided to do something about it.

Paula Troie of Amherst got $6,000 for the Amherst Recreation Department to relocate the playground through the Bertha Rogers Grant.

This biannual award funds worthy causes that contribute to the greater good of the community. Troie applied for the grant after the warrant article to fund the relocation of the equipment was declined.

The $8,500 project would open up the beach area and move the playground to a shadier location near the beach. Troie said that she loves Baboosic Lake and wants to see it continue to improve.

“I thought this was a really great way to use the Bertha Rogers funds because Baboosic Lake is a gem in our town,” she said.

The Bertha Rogers Trust also gave $2,000 to the Amherst Garden Club in March.
