Deep Freeze Expected to Break Today

Slightly more moderate temperatures will provide a break from the bitter cold; Heritage Commission to meet tonight.

Bitter cold breaks: Amherst residents can breathe a small sigh of relief this morning after the two-day deep freeze starts to moderate with slightly warmer temperatures, but they will have to be on guard against  frozen pipe damage.

Need to get rid of your Christmas tree: The town's Transfer Station will continue to accept Christmas trees in the brush pile free of charge for residents who need a place to dispose of their trees.

Heritage Commission to meet: The Heritage Commission is also scheduled to meet on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Town Offices. The agenda for this meeting can be viewed on the town's web site.

Winter Carnival set:
The Amherst Board of Selectmen recently voted to hold the town's Winter Carnival on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Middle Road.

Indoor farmers market. The Indoor Milford Farmers Market is up and running for the winter and spring and will be open twice a month until late April.
