Souhegan Chamber Hosting Auction to Benefit Veterans

5 Things You Need to Know Today:
1. A great benefit. The Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Veterans FIRST Auction on Saturday, April 13 at Alpine Grove in Hollis. The fundraiser will benefit Veterans FIRST, which began in 2004 as a program designed to help homeless veterans move on to independent living. The auction begins at 6 p.m. with the full course dinner served at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased online.
2. Healing power. Author Peggy Huddleston will lead a free Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshop from 7-8:30pm, Friday, April 19 at Nia NH and Yoga, 110 Route 101A, Amherst. She will show you how to reduce anxiety, use 23-50% less pain medication and heal faster. She will guide you in using relaxation and visualization to shift yourself out of fear into feeling peaceful about an upcoming surgery. Peggy Huddleston developed five steps to prepare for surgery using relaxation and visualization. Research documents the benefits of her book and relaxation CD. They are recommended at hospitals including Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. The workshop is free.
