Ways & Means Seeks Volunteers, Digital Courts and Showers

Some interesting things to know today courtesy of Patch.

1. Weather Report: Today will bring a mix of clouds and sun in the morning giving way to a few showers during the afternoon. High 82F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent. Tonight will have isolated thunderstorms in the evening, then cloudy with rain likely later at night. Low 64F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 7 percent. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.

2. E-Court.
New Hampshire residents will soon have to use the internet when they file small claims lawsuits in some New Hampshire courts. This starts in November for Concord and Plymouth.

3. Volunteer wanted!
The Ways and Means Committee for the Amherst School District is looking for people to join the committee. Every year W&M works with the School Board and the SAU administrators to craft the budget for the school district - the one you vote on in March. Be a participant in this process and help make Amherst better. Anyone interested should contact Michael Costolo at Michael.Costolo@gmail.com.

4. ICYMI:
We shared the Top 10 stories from July, and Jon Ingram's resignation lead the list. July Fourth, town employee wages and a column about Craigslist scams were also popular. See what else made the cut.

5. Patch Fact: Gum arabic is a gum that dissolves easily in water. It is used chiefly in making perfumes, medicine, candies and mucilage.
