5 Things: More Warm Weather

Here's what's good in Bedford today.

1. Ice melt ... The National Weather Service(NWS) forecasts a high temperature of 61 degrees today, but very strong winds and rain squalls dampen the early hours. The afternoon is likely to by filled with mostly cloudy skies and more strong winds with temperatures dipping into the 40s.

2. McKelvie Spelling Bee. The McKelvie Intermediate School's Spelling Bee is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31 at 9:15 a.m. in the cafeteria. Parents and family are welcome to attend, but must stop by the office to sign in and pick up a name tag.

3. Two days left! Any Bedford registered voter wishing to file for town or school district office in the local election in March must do so by contacting Town Clerk Lori Radke at 472-3550. The clerk will be available during normal office hours at the Bedford Town Office Building at 24 North Amherst Road. The deadline for filing is 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. 4. Get iced! The Bedford Village Inn continues to host its third-annual Svedka Ice Bar, which is scheduled to be open nightly, from 5:30-10 p.m., through Saturday, Feb. 2. Enjoy carefully crafted ice sculptures, live music, great company, hot food and cool drinks at this once-a-year event. 5. Diaper dandies. The Mall of New Hampshire prepares to host its 1ST Annual Diaper Derby on Saturday Feb. 16. The event, open to all crawlers under the age of 12 months who aren't yet walking, is limited to the first 100 registered babies. Registration is open now through 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event. Those wishing to pre-register may do so at the Guest Services booth located in Center Court of the mall.
