5 Things: Spring-Like Weather Today

Here's what's good in Bedford today.

1. Ice melt ... The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts near-record high temperatures today as the mercury is expected to rise to around 56 degrees with cloudy skies and occasional showers this afternoon. Chance of rain is 50 percent today.

2. Two-hour delay today. Due to black ice and slick driving conditions, the Bedford School District will operate on a two-hour delay today.

3. Three days left! Any Bedford registered voter wishing to file for town or school district office in the local election in March must do so by contacting Town Clerk Lori Radke at 472-3550. The clerk will be available during normal office hours at the Bedford Town Office Building at 24 North Amherst Road. The deadline for filing is 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1. 4. Grand Master in Bedford! Bedford ATA hosts a meet and greet with the head of the American Taekwondo Association on Friday, Feb. 1, from 6:30-7 .  Grand Master In Ho Lee is a 9th Degree Black Belt and is the third person to head up the ATA. Grand Master Lee is well known for his dedication to training and physical fitness. He has been a champion of The President’s Challenge fitness program, and encourages all ATA members to continually improve their level of fitness. This is his first visit to New England as Grand Master.

5. Diaper dandies. The Mall of New Hampshire prepares to host its 1ST Annual Diaper Derby on Saturday Feb. 16. The event, open to all crawlers under the age of 12 months who aren't yet walking, is limited to the first 100 registered babies. Registration is open now through 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event. Those wishing to pre-register may do so at the Guest Services booth located in Center Court of the mall.
