Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- Police are investigating after a teen was pulled over by an unmarked black SUV the teen said they believed was not a police officer. The teen reported an SUV followed them Tuesday night "from Route 13 through Boston, down Bog Brook, McCurdy and Bedford roads" repeatedly flashing its lights. When the teen pulled over, a person approached not wearing a uniform. The teen sped away and called 911. Londonderry police Capt. Patrick Cheetham said, "If you're unsure, always make that phone call." (WMUR Manchester)
- A driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, crossed lanes, and hit a Bedford police cruiser at 1:20 a.m. Monday morning. The officer was parked on the side of the road operating radar on Route 101 near Covenant Way when a vehicle traveling westbound crossed all lanes and struck the cruiser head-on, officials said. The cruiser was heavily damaged and the officer was taken to the hospital after suffering minor injuries. The driver was not injured in the crash and was cited for negligent operation. (WMUR Manchester)
- Can you help the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire? The ARLNH is facing an unexpected burgeoning population. The ARLNH, which has been supporting our community in times of need for 19 years, needs our support. In past few weeks, the ARLNH helped remove five animals from a Bedford home, 24 cats from a Merrimack home and 15 cats from a Colebrook home, while another 26 animals "found their way to our door individually in desperate need of assistance." With the unexpected arrival of 80 new animals, the shelter is in urgent need of adoptive families and donations. See some of the cute new pet residents here: (Manchester Ink Link)
