Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. After a ballot recount on Monday, Democrat Catherine Rombeau remained the winner of a special election against Republican Linda Rea Camarota in Bedford. The recount resulted in a final vote count of 41 votes for Rombeau, up from 37. (Patch)
  2. This past weekend was apple kick-off season for many orchards in New Hampshire. Farm manager Kitt Plummer of Hazelton Orchards in Chester said that people were thinking about apple picking with the cool weather yesterday. Wayne Loosigian, from Apple Annie Fruit Orchards in Brentwood, thinks they will do well this year. He said they are using more natural ingredients to spray their orchard, and with COVID-19, many families are looking for outside activities they can do together. Owners say with all of the rain this summer, apples are in great shape this year. (WMUR)
  3. Bedford home prices were up 24 percent in August 2021 compared to this time last year, according to Housing Market Trends on Redfin.com. In August, the median selling price for a home in Bedford was $635K, in a very competitive market. This year, there were 37 homes in Bedford that sold in August, compared to 52 homes that sold in the same month last year. (Redfin.com)
