Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- Bentley Commons assisted living residents have only two months to find a new place to live. More than 60 people living at the Bedford assisted living home at Hawthorne Drive are scrambling to find new places to live after finding out on June 28 that Bentley Commons will close on Aug. 31. The president of Bentley Commons' parent company said in an email the facility had to close due to "shifting health care dynamics and industry challenges." (WMUR Manchester)
- Sebbins Pond is one of several New Hampshire ponds and beaches with safety warnings due to active fecal and cyanobacteria bacteria. "Environmental officials have issued safety warnings for Bedford, Deering, Hollis, Hudson, Kingston, Salisbury, and other towns." Cyanobacteria algae blooms appear as a bright green color in the water. Exposure can cause "acute and chronic health effects that vary in severity — including skin and mucous membranes irritation, tingling, numbness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, diarrhea, and liver and central nervous system damage." (Patch)
- Enjoy live music, food trucks and family fun at Summer Concerts at The Educational Farm at Joppa Hill on July 9, from 5 - 7 p.m. Local original rock band Scalawag will be playing this Sunday. Bring a blanket and BYOB. Admission is $20 per family to benefit the Educational Farm at Joppa Hill. (Eventbrite)
