- The nation and Congress were unified after Sept. 11. Can it ever happen again? In the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the nation needs to remember the terrorist attacks that brought down the World Trade Center and heavily damaged the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. Former U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg, U.S. Reps. Charles Bass and John E. Sununu reflect on where they were, how they felt, and share their thoughts about national unity 20 years after 9/11. (WMUR Manchester)
- Some New Hampshire parents and school leaders have raised concerns that giving students the choice of wearing a mask to protect against COVID-19 this school year will result in bullying. The father of a student who attends St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Dover which isn’t requiring masks, said his masked teenage son has already heard comments like, "COVID’s over, dude!" Another father, who has a masked son and daughter in Bedford schools, wondered whether students would be shamed if they chose to wear a mask in mask-optional districts, like Bedford. (The Union Leader)
- Linda Rea Camarota, who narrowly lost the House seat for Hillsborough County District 7 to Catherine Rombeau this week during a special election in Bedford, is asking for a recount. Rombeau received 37 more votes than Camarota to win the election. "I have requested a recount and that is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13," Camarota said. (The Union Leader)
- With a spike in new cases, Nashua officials urge residents to get a vaccine as cases rise. More than 200 Nashua residents have contracted COVID-19 in the past two weeks, including more than two dozen children. Nashua is not the only New Hampshire school district seeing a spike in cases. In Bedford, where face masks are optional, 11 students recently contracted the illness at Memorial Elementary School. Masks are now being required at that school. (The Union Leader)
