Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Abby is committed to supporting her community through volunteering her time. Abby’s volunteer activities include helping her church, St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, prepare meals for the Cafe 1269 homeless ministry; leading elementary students in Cub Scouts and in Karate classes; and helping disabled youth and adults through the Special Olympics, campaigning for accessibility at FIRST Robotics Competition Events, and assisting at the annual Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit held at the Sig Sauer Academy. Over the past 18 months, Abby struggled with migraines which were only recently diagnosed and are now on the road towards being managed. This personal challenge impacted her grades and her self-confidence, but never her commitment to helping others. Abby greets every person with a smile and a can-do attitude, teaching and helping in order to reduce barriers that sometimes seem insurmountable.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

While persevering through a heavy course load at Bedford High School, Abby is a champion for inclusion of others, insisting that people are given the opportunity to participate. She seeks to break down barriers so that others can achieve to the best of their abilities.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Abigail Evansic!
