BHS Wrestlers Continue Hot Start

Bulldogs take second at holiday tournament.

It's not yet 2013 and the Bedford High School wrestling team already looks poised for a strong run at states.

The Bulldogs, coming off a strong 54-27 win at Merrimack on Wednesday, Dec. 19, put together an impressive showing at the Hollis-Brookline Nor' Easter Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 21. Invitational, earning second place in the 16-team field.

BHS was beaten only by D-I Pinkerton at the tourney. The Astros garnered 196.5 points to Bedford's 152.5.

The Bulldogs crowned two champions at the meet. Colin Perras, at 120 pounds and heavyweight Robert Lamy each finished atop their weight classes.

Sam Kollmorgan, at 152 pounds, took second, and 113-pounder Jake Valeri placed third.

Earning top-four finishes were 106-pounder Jake Hall, 132-pounder Josh Belz, 138-pounder Chris Conery, 195-pounder Matt Houston and 220-pounder Bobby Heald.

Prior, at Merrimack, Jake Valeri, at 113 pounds, earned a big win against last year's Division II runner-up from MHS.

Other winners at Merrimack include 106-pounder Jake Hall, who won by forfeit; and 120-pounder Colin Perras, 126-pounder Ben Gilman, 132-pounder Josh Belz, 152-pounder Ben Miller, 160-pounder Sam Kollmorgan, 182-pounder Robert Bernard and 195-pounder Matt Houston all won by pin.

The Bulldogs next compete at the widely-popular 64-team Lowell Holiday Invitational before returning home for a Jan. 3 dual meet against Winnacunnet of Hampton.
