Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Two rediscovered murals are part of a new exhibit at The Currier Museum of Art in Manchester. NHPR Morning Edition host Rick Ganley went to The Currier Museum and spoke with senior curator Kurt Sundstrom about the murals. The murals were commissioned in 1941 by the WPA during The Great Depression. Artist Phillip Guston painted a mural called, "Pulpwood Logging," which Sundstrom said shows sustainable logging in place of clear-cutting in New Hampshire forests. Musa McKim, an artist, and Guston's wife, painted a mural called, "Wildlife in the White Mountains," that Sundstrom said is "a lush landscape" filled animals depicting New Hampshire forests as a paradise where "all animals live in harmony," not just with themselves and among other animals, but with humankind and with nature. You will find Rick Ganley's full conversation with Kurt Sundstrom here: (NHPR)
  2. Drive-through testing: For those who are traveling and need a COVID-19 test, On-site Medical has a test site in the parking lot of The Mall of New Hampshire. They are not inside the mall but are in the parking lot next to LongHorn Steakhouse. On the website, they said the testing available for walk-in customers is a two hour PCR test for $250. They also have a Rapid antigen test for $100. Their website notes that they do not accept insurance. For more info or to call ahead, visit ManchesterTesting.com. 3. Have you heard of a ‘Mecha Kit’? It turns a Segway self-balancing scooter into a mobile mini mech — a recreational vehicle where kids can pivot all the way around and shoot water bullets that evaporate into powder. Segway was established in Bedford, New Hampshire in 1999, and is known for creating the Segway and other "electric, self-balancing personal transportation products." Ninebot is a Beijing-based "intelligent short-distance transportation equipment operator," that was founded in 2012. The two companies merged in 2015 to form Segway-Ninebot, and have locations in Los Angeles, Beijing, Seattle, Bedford, Amsterdam, Seoul, Singapore, Munich, Changzhou, and Tianjin.
