- Seth Meyers almost quit "Saturday Night Live." While the famous host and Bedford native waits for the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strike to end to record his show, he revealed on comic Neal Brennan's podcast that he almost quit SNL after five seasons. When he was offered the Head Writer position after Tina Fey, he could no longer appear on the show’s Weekend Update segment. He didn't sign the contract. It was only when the opening credits ran during the taping of the 2006-07 season that Meyers said he learned he would remain on the Weekend Update show. (94.9 WHOM)
- At this week's meeting, Bedford Town Manager, Rick Sawyer, recognized the Bedford Fire and Public Works Departments for "outstanding work" as emergency responders to recent flood emergencies in neighboring towns from strong storms. Sawyer noted that fire department members of the Swift Water Rescue team were "on the road within an hour and a half notice” when the call came in to assist neighboring Vermont. Firefighters left the station just before 9 p.m. and made their first rescues at 2 a.m. Sawyer also praised the Bedford Public Works department for providing outstanding flood assistance to neighboring towns around the state. - The NH Department of Environmental Services asked the Town of Bedford to perform additional PFAS testing for contamination at the site of the former Bedford Fire Department, and "additional monitoring wells and soil boring tests near the Library and Village Common property" will be finished Friday, said Town Manager Rick Sawyer. - Drivers can expect delays and detours on Bedford Center Road. The Bedford Center Road Water Main Line project is under construction this week. Driving to the Town Offices will be "challenging" while construction crews work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. At certain times, the only access to Bedford Town Offices will be from Wallace Road.
