- Is Bedford Target closing? Target will close nearly a dozen stores by Oct. 21 after organized crime groups looted several retail stores across the country. Organized online crime rings smashed windows and grabbed merchandise in stores from California to New York. Target said merchandise theft has already caused $500 million in lost profits this year. David Johnston, of the National Retail Federation, said law enforcement and retail stores "are just starting to see how organized these groups are." He noted that organized online criminal organizations can extend to "multiple states, if not the country," with some groups traveling from the West Coast to the East Coast for specific merchandise. Target stores in New Hampshire are not on the list of stores that will close. (Yahoo)
