  1. There were five new COVID-19 deaths in New Hampshire on Friday. Health officials said that New Hampshire had the highest number of cases since early February, with more than 4,000 active cases. Health officials noted that almost 26.8 percent of new cases are in children under 18. As of Friday, Bedford had 75 active cases out of 2288 total cases, with 7 new cases. The new numbers come out on Monday. (WMUR)
  2. The Durham Town Council has finally voted to remove the historic Mill Pond dam that created Mill Pond on the Oyster River. Council Chair Kitty Marple said that the dam has been in disrepair for nearly a decade. The state’s Dam Bureau, and a study prepared by engineers from VHB of Bedford, noted that the dam had safety concerns and structural deficiencies. The Mill Pond dam separates the fresh and saltwater portions of the Oyster River, which is a tributary of the Piscataqua River and is part of the coastal New Hampshire Great Bay Estuary. Marple noted that the dam doesn't allow normal fish runs, and studies show that Mill Pond is low in oxygen, making an unhealthy environment for fish and underwater ecosystems. 3. This week's episode of the Down to Business podcast hosted by NH Business Review Publisher Ernesto Burden, "Building a Workforce Pipeline in the NH Auto Industry," was sponsored by the land planning and engineering firm TFMoran, with offices in Bedford and Portsmouth, NH.(NHBR)
