Fatal Accident on 101A in Amherst

One person is dead and another person has been critically injured in a head-on crash on Route 101A in Amherst on Friday afternoon.

The crash reportedly occurred on Route 101A in front of Atlas Fireworks. According to Amherst Fire Chief Mark Boynton, there is one fatality and a second person is in critical condition.

Boynton said Route 101A is currently closed westbound. A Nixle alert sent out by the Merrimack Police Department minutes ago said heavy traffic volume should be expected, and motorists are urged to seek alternate routes. Traffic is currently being detoured onto Boston Post Road.
