Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. New Hampshire's First Zero Waste Grocery Store grand opening will be in Bedford on Thursday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. The Live Free Refillery is fighting one of the biggest environmental threats to the planet — plastics. Customers bring their own cleaned, sanitized containers or reusable glass jars "to fill up on nuts, whole grains, seeds, rice, beans, coffee, teas, spices, and even dish and laundry soap." A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. (Bedford Patch)
  2. The 2023 Assessments for the Town of Bedford have been mailed to residents. The Assessor's Office said to look for the Notice this week "and not mistake it for junk mail." In the Assessment letter, look for new values for Bedford properties and instructions about how to schedule an informal hearing "by phone or in-person" with officers from Vision Government Solutions. 3. Humidity brought strong storms with potential tornadoes Monday night. A flash flood watch was in effect for Bedford until 10 p.m. and a rare tornado touched down at Cape Cod in neighboring Massachusetts, knocking down trees and power lines. Find out more about storm alerts this week: (WMUR)
