- Hazy smoke from Canadian wildfires shifted away from New Hampshire Thursday providing a "good" air quality rating for Bedford and New Hampshire, the EPA AIRNow air quality survey reported. Health agencies advised to stay inside to avoid breathing harmful toxic smoke particles in polluted areas and if you have to go out, officials recommend wearing an N95 mask. - "Bedford Falls Assisted Living held a 'senior' prom this week.' It was a "step back in time" for the many single residents who had a chance to dress up for a special dance. Members of the Bedford fire and police departments "stopped by to be their dance partners." (WMUR Manchester)
- Catholic Medical Center will pay a $3.8 million settlement over whistleblower claims of kickbacks given to a female Laconia cardiologist for referring patients to the CMC New England Heart Institute, U.S. Attorney John J. Farley said in a release. The whistleblower, former CMC cardiologist David Goldberg, M.D., will receive $570,000/ The U.S. Attorney did not comment on other claims Goldberg made alleging that CMC "manipulated mortality data" and "provided substandard care." CMC was the first to partner with the Bedford Ambulatory Surgical Center and imaging center. (Manchester Ink Link)
- Southwest Airlines celebrated 25 years at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) on June 7, 2023. The first Southwest Airlines flight touched down at MHT on June 7, 1998. Southwest offers nonstop service to destinations including Orlando, Baltimore, Chicago Midway and Tampa. The Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is a 4 mile drive from Bedford.(Fly Manchester)
