Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Bedford's picturesque trails and interesting rock formations are among the "Reader’s Picks for Best Places in NH" in New Hampshire Magazine! If you haven't explored Pulpit Rock, you may want to. Reader Kevin Mcmahon said, " Pulpit Rock Conservation Area in Bedford has plenty of trails with interesting rock formations and old machinery lying around too." (New Hampshire Magazine)
  2. Bids are already being placed in the 3rd annual "Bidding For Paws Online Silent Auction." This year's silent online auction offers "once-in-a-lifetime trips, animal experiences, gifts, artwork, jewelry, and more." "With anywhere from 50 to 150 animals in our care at any given time, your donation today will go twice as far in assuring these animals have nourishment, enrichment, and a warm bed to curl up in. Thanks to a generous donor matching dollar for dollar up to $5000, your donation will make twice the impact," the ARLNH wrote on its Bidding For Paws auction page. Bids can be placed until Sunday, April 16, at 5 p.m. (Bedford Patch)
  3. A shoutout to Heidi Kuhn of Bedford, who will be running in the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber on Monday, April 17. This is Heidi's fifth Boston Marathon, raising thousands of dollars to help win the fight against cancer, in memory of several members of her family, including "her mother, Rosemary, her grandmother Muriel, her grandfather Al and her uncle John, who all died of a rare form of brain cancer." "What my family went through, what any cancer patient goes through is nothing compared to running 26 miles and getting a little sore," Kuhn said. (WMUR Manchester)
  4. Today is CUB (Clean Up Bedford) Day! The 3rd Annual Spring "CUB" Clean Up day is on Saturday, April 15 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. "There are 5 locations to pick up the 'blue' bags for collecting trash: Bedford Library, Vestibule at Town Offices, Safety Complex, the Farm at Joppa Hill, and the Bedford Transfer Station," said Kathleen Ports, Associate Planner for the Town of Bedford. "Please drive safely and be on the lookout for community members along roads," she added. For more information, contact Bill Carter at wcarter@bedfordnh.org. (Nixle)
