Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Hurricane Lee, an extremely large 300-mile-wide storm, will impact coastal areas of New Hampshire and Maine on Saturday with strong surf, wind and rain. Saturday will be cloudy with 20 to 30 mph wind gusts and a high of 71. A few showers are possible. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with a low of 54. The sun will return on Sunday with a high of 79. Winds will be 9 mph. Sunday night will be cloudy with occasional showers later at night and a low of 58. (Weather.com)
  2. Make sure your information is up to date with the Town of Bedford. The Supervisors of the Checklist, who manage the Checklist of registered voters under State law, will hold a meeting from 3-3:30 p.n. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, to approve additions, deletions, changes of name and address and other updates to the Town Checklist. Save the date! Supervisors of the Checklist are Barbara Chagnon Hugh Donovan and Becki Kuhns. (Bedford Patch)
  3. The New Hampshire education board unanimously approved conservative PragerU for an online school financial literacy course for students to graduate. The education board unanimously approved a contract with conservative-leaning PragerU on Thursday. Teachers, school board members and parents opposed the choice and questioned the online educational provider's right-wing political views, while others supported the choice. Board Chairman Andrew Cline of Bedford abstained from the final 5-0 vote. State law HB 1671, passed in 2022, requires all students to complete a half-credit financial literacy course to graduate.
