Lowell Man Identified as Hooksett Motorcycle Crash Victim

Wilson Morales, 25, of Lowell, MA was killed during a high speed crash coming off Interstate 93 in Hooksett.

BEDFORD, NH - State Police today announced the identity of a man killed in a motorcycle crash on I-93 South in Hooksett. New Hampshire State Police said Wilson Morales, 25, of Lowell, MA was killed during a high speed crash within the entrance to the Interstate 93 southbound rest area in Hooksett on Thursday.

Police had earlier received a call for a motorcycle operating erratically on the roadway in Concord. Witnesses said Morales, riding a 2007 Yamaha YZFR1 Motorcycle, was weaving in and out of traffic. When police caught up to him he accelerated to an even higher speed, estimated above 120 m.p.h.

State Police said the decision was then made to forego the chase for safety reasons.

State Police said an initial investigation indicated that the motorcycle lost control while entering the rest area at a high rate of speed. This resulted in the motorcycle going off of the left side of the roadway, losing control, striking a light pole.

Due to the collision, the entrance to the southbound rest area was closed for approximately two and a half hours. The New Hampshire State Police CAR Unit was assisted on scene by the Hooksett Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. State Police said the crash remains under investigation, "it appears that speed was a factor in the crash."
