Outreach workers, and multiple people from MPD, MFD and Manchester Health will continue to visit the site daily. On Thursday, the city announced the opening of two temporary locations for individuals experiencing homelessness, in the former St. Casimir School and Angie's Place.
The announcement was included in a lengthy open letter signed by Manchester mayor Joyce Craig and its top police, fire and health officials. The letter quoted CDC guidelines:"Unless individual housing units are available, do not clear encampments during community spread of COVID-19. Clearing encampments can cause people to disperse throughout the community and break connections with service providers. This increases the potential for infectious disease spread."
