Manchester Names New Chief Of Police
A Manchester Police Captain has been nominated as the next Chief of Manchester Police. He brings 23 years of law enforcement experience

MANCHESTER, NH - The name of Captain Allen Aldenberg was brought to the Board of Mayor and Alderman on October 6, 2020, as the nomination of Chief of Manchester Police.
Capt. Allen Aldenberg has served as a law-enforcement professional for 26 years, serving with the Essex County Sheriff's Department in Massachusetts and the Goffstown, NH, Police Department prior to joining the Manchester Police Department in 2003.
During his tenure with the Manchester Police Department, Capt. Aldenberg has served as a Patrol officer, Field Training Officer, K9 Officer, and as an investigator within the Detective Unit.

Following his promotion to Sergeant in 2013, he was assigned as a Patrol Supervisor and later served as the director of the Training Unit. After his promotion to Lieutenant in 2017 he was assigned as the Adult Arraignment Officer within the Legal Division.
Captain Aldenberg was named Officer of the Month in December 2010 and May of 2012.

He was awarded the department’s Life-Saving Medal in 2011 for his efforts in preventing a suicidal subject from jumping from the ledge of a parking garage. And in 2016, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for negotiating the surrender of an armed man.
Captain Aldenberg has served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard for 28 years. Until recently he currently held the rank of Colonel and was the Brigade Commander for the 79th Troop Command-Homeland Security.
Since 9/11, he has been deployed to Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. For his service in Iraq, from 2009 – 2010, Captain Aldenberg was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
Captain Aldenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in Justice Administration both of which were conferred by Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont.
In July of 2017, he graduated from the United States Army War College with a Master’s of Strategic Studies degree.
Captain Aldenberg has been selected to attend the highly acclaimed FBI Academy in 2021
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen is expected to confirm Aldenberg at its next meeting on Oct. 20.
Captain Aldenberg and his wife Emily have two children, Hunter and Kendal.
