Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- The Merrimack River has risen to "rarely seen levels" due to almost daily storms and downpours. On Monday, the National Weather Service said the Merrimack River was close to minor flood levels. The last time the Merrimack River was this high was in 2010. While 2022 brought drought conditions, 2023 has been an unusually rainy season for New Hampshire. Of the 30 days in June, "22 of them had rain." (Manchester Ink Link)
- The Bedford Police Department wants to remind everyone to keep vehicles safe from theft this summer with these helpful tips: "Park in well-lit areas, stow away valuables, lock cars and windows, do not leave keys in cars, and never leave your vehicle while it's running!" Have a fun and safe summer. (Bedford Police Department via Facebook)
- Join the Animal Rescue League for Story and Craft time on Friday, Aug. 11, from 1-3 p.m. Participants will read "The Rainbow Fish," by Marcus Pfister, create their own tea-light fishbowls and "take home their own hardcover copy of the book!"
