Motorcyclist Pulled Over Minutes Before Fatal Accident

Alan Monas Jr., 26, was pronounced dead following the single-vehicle crash in Manchester.

A Nashua man is dead after State Police say he lost control of his motorcycle while exiting I-293 near Bedford.

At approximately 9:13 a.m. on March 30 NH State Police from Troop B in Bedford responded to a report of a single motorcycle accident located on I-293 northbound on the Exit 4 (Second Street) off ramp in Manchester. 

Police say Alan Monas Jr., 26, of Nashua was pronounced dead at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Monas was driving a 1978 Suzuki motorcycle.

Police say Monas had been stopped by Trooper First Class Scott Tracy as he traveled northbound on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack just prior to the time of the crash. He was issued a summons for speeding, after being clocked at 86 mph. 

Freelance photographer Jeffrey Hastings, who arrived shortly after the crash, said first responders were performing CPR on Monas at the scene, before he was transported.

The cause of this accident remains under investigation, police said. It is undetermined at this time whether speed was a factor in this crash.  There were no other vehicles involved in this accident.  The I-293 NB Exit 4 off ramp was closed for approximately one hour.
