Nashua Fire On Cambridge Road Sends One To The Hospital

Firefighters from the Conant Road station were just around the corner when a reported fire came in on Cambridge Road Saturday.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue responded to Cambridge Road at 5:45 p.m. for a reported fire in the basement of a home.

On their arrival, they had smoke and fire showing from the basement of a 1-story single family residence. The call was put in for a working fire bringing additional apparatus to the scene.

Crews worked in the basement with heavy smoke and fire, and crews knocked down the fire which extended into the ceiling of the finished basement.

Smoke filled the house, and NFR removed windows to ventilate. A vehicle parked next to the house also caught fire and was extinguished.

According to Deputy Chief Kerrigan, two people were home at the time of the fire. One of the people was an elderly woman who was transported by AMR to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

The fire is under investigation but at this time it appears the origin was the finished living area in the basement.
