New Hampshire Veterans Day Deals

A number of local businesses are saluting veterans, military service men and women, and their families this Veterans Day by offering local discounts, specials and promotions. In and around Bedford and many other southern New Hampshire towns, several restaurants and other businesses are looking to give back through freebees and other great Veterans Day deals.

For military service men and women only:

• Outback Steakhouse: No need to leave Bedford for this deal. All active duty military service members and Veterans get a free "blooming onion" appetizer and beverage this Sunday or Monday.

• Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse: Like the Outback deal. This deal is available right in Bedford. Veterans and active duty members can enjoy a cheeseburger, fries, a slice of Moose Tracks Mud Pie and a fountain drink for Veterans Day. For more on this deal, click here.

• Longhorn Steakhouse: We'll make this a steakhouse trifecta, especially considering two towns boardering Bedford have Longhorn Steakhouse locations. Former and current military members visiting Manchester or Amherst on Veterans Day receive a free appetizer and drink.

• Chunky's Cinema and Pub: All Veterans and active duty military receive free admission to see any movie on Veterans' Day. Veterans must present proper ID. Examples include: VA Card, VFW Card, American Legion Card, discharge papers, DD214 or other Veterans/Military ID.

• Applebee's : Free dinners to active duty military and veterans throughout the day. The nearest Applebee's is located on Second Street in Manchester.

• Chili's: Free Veterans Day meal. Qualifying participants have their choice of one of six entrees. The nearest Chili's is located on Amherst Street in Nashua.

• UNO Chicago Grill: Free entrée or individual pizza with an entrée or pizza purchase of equal or greater value. Click here for the nearest locations.

• Olive Garden: Visit the South Willow Street Olive Garden location on Sunday, Nov. 11 and all veterans and military active duty will receive a choice of 1 of 5 entrees plus unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks.

• Lowe’s Veterans Day Discount: All Veterans receive a 10% discount on Veteran’s Day up to $5,000 on in-stock and special-order purchases.  The offer can’t be used online, on previous sales or on sales of services or gift cards.  Must present a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC), valid Form DD214 or other proof of service.  Lowes also offers this Veteran’s discount on Memorial Day and the 4th of July.

For everyone to enjoy: 

• All national parks, forests and monuments offer free addmission to all on Veterans Day.  Go and Enjoy the scenery!

THE DISH: more Secret Discounts!

• Check out the Facebook pages and Twitter sites for your favorite providers. In 2010, vendors like Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University and many other online retailers offered special one day only discounts off their most popular products for Veteran's Day. Check out their websites and fan sites (Twitter and Facebook) bright and early Thursday morning for announcements of this year's deals. They don't usually announce this ahead of time so you have to log on Thursday to participate. Then log on to their websites to purchase your favorites at a discount. Some sites only give discounts to military. Some do online discounts for all and donate something to a military charity. A great tip to support your troops!

Remember, the whole point of Veterans Day to thank and remember our troops and November is Military Family Month. Thank you to our troops and their families for your service!
