Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport Expands Flights: After more than a year of work, a coalition of business leaders and a new nonprofit organized by Airport Director Ted Kitchens has big plans. The team, called the New Hampshire Commerce Corridor, includes a coalition of seven state chambers of commerce including Greater Manchester, Greater Nashua, Greater Concord, Greater Salem, Greater Derry-Londonderry, Greater Merrimack, Souhegan Valley, and Greater Hudson. The coalition secured a $450,000 grant that helped bring Spirit Airlines to the airport. The carrier announced non-stop flights to Florida starting this week. Debt restructuring will also allow airlines to reduce costs by 25 percent, making the Manchester-Boston airport an attractive destination. With new non-stop service to Florida, more passengers will travel through the airport bringing economic benefits to New Hampshire. (The Union Leader)
  2. Drive Safely: Many of us travel on the F.E. Everett Turnpike through Merrimack. Two crashes this weekend are a reminder to drive safely. A serious crash Sunday night caused a section of guard rail to pierce a Loudon man's car. State police said an 8-foot section of guardrail impaled the vehicle in the crash that happened around 10 p.m. Driver Jonathan Gouveia, 43, the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered minor injuries. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Jacob Winslow, Jacob.A.Winslow@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-4381. On Saturday night, a pickup truck veered off the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack around 7 p.m. crashing into a tree, sending a Nashua man to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Joseph Basiliere, 55, was taken to the Elliot hospital with serious injuries. According to state police, weather and speed may have been a factor in the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Bradley Pierson at Bradley.Pierson@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-8364. (The Union Leader)
  3. Brisk Weekend Weather: According to WMUR Meteorologist Kevin Skarupa, warm weather is expected on Thursday, with temperatures as high as the 50s or 60s, but it won't last long. A brisk cold front is coming in Friday with "colder, drier air" and "brisk winds" from the northwest. Highs are only expected to be in the 40s over the weekend. (WMUR)
