New Sandwich Shop Opens in Bedford

Here are five things you should know today in Bedford.

1. Three cheers for $5 footlongs! That's right, Bedford. Subway has opened its second Bedford sandwich shop. In addition to the Walmart location, the Conn.-based hoagie favorite is now open in the Vista (Harvest Market) Plaza at 209 Route 101.

2. Freezing rain advisory. The National Weather Service has a freezing rain advisory in effect through 4 p.m. Monday. Ice may accumulate up to a quarter inch on local roadways. A dense fog advisory has also been issued through 8 a.m. That means visibility may be reduced to a quarter-mile or less during the morning commute. Drive safe, Bedford!

3. The weatherman says ... Today's forecasted high, according to Weather.com, is 42 degrees with a 100-percent chance of rain. The overnight low is 29 degrees with a 30-percent chance of precipitation.

4. No school this week.
Don't forget, Bedford schools are off from school through New Year's Day. Students return on Thursday, Jan. 2.

5. Town takes a holiday. The Bedford Town offices, transfer station and U.S. Post Office are all closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
