Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Two puppies visited several Bedford businesses on Tuesday to promote Businesses Unleashed, an online business challenge with a top prize of $5,000 to benefit shelter pets at the Animal Rescue League of NH. June marks the Animal Rescue League's 25th year at its Bedford location. Find out more and sign up for Bedford Unleashed here: (Animal Rescue League of NH via Facebook)
  2. A Bedford developer requested a variance to build 54 townhouses on land near Bedford High School. The concept for the 55+ community was reviewed in December by representatives of the Gerard J. Dumas Family Trust and Pauline L. Dumas Revocable Trust. In 1991, the Gerard J. Dumas Family sold 42 acres to build the high school. Without a variance, only 14 units could be built on the land. The planning board is also considering revised plans for a proposed 65-unit independent senior living building at Market and Main at its June 26 meeting, but no plans have been submitted to the town. 3. The Bedford Public Library is offering new books on order for May. Browse book covers, and when you see something you like, "click or tap on the cover image" to request a copy! (Bedford Patch)
  4. Classic car consignment business owner Stephan Condodemetraky of Bedford is not in jail yet. Condodemetraky received a one-and-a-half to five-year sentence for not paying six customers $125,000 and filed for bankruptcy in 2017. He is free on bail while he appeals the six felony convictions. Hillsborough Superior Court-South Judge Charles Temple said it is Condodemetraky’s right to appeal, but "it is past time" for the Bedford man to finally take responsibility for what the bankruptcy court called "a multi-million-dollar Ponzi scheme." Two of the six victims have died since his conviction. (InDepthNH.org)
