NH State Troopers Arrest 58 for DWI in Two Weekends
Holiday activity also brought two fatal crashes.

The holiday season is a busy and hectic time for most people, but that reality is especially true for New Hampshire State Police.
Troopers, over the course of the last two C.A.R.E Life Saver Weekends – Friday Dec. 14 through Sunday, Dec. 16, and Friday, Dec. 21 through Monday Dec. 24 – faced two fatal motor vehicle crashed despite increased efforts and a highly visible presence throughout the state aimed at preserving driver safety during the holidays.
State Police Director Colonel Robert Quinn, in a release, indicated that during the aforementioned time period, NH State Troopers made a total of 3,960 vehicle stops, which included 834 citations for speeding and 2,476 warnings. There were also 98 citations issued for hazardous violations and 34 for driving after suspension. Additionally, 98 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Highly trained troopers, who were assigned throughout the state to detect and apprehend impaired drivers, made a total of 58 arrests for driving under the influence, including 14 of which that were aggravated DUI or subsequent offenses.

Several erratic and impaired operators were also identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by other drivers.
"The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in removing impaired drivers from our roadways," said Quinn. "The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce collisions in the upcoming New Year’s holiday weekend."
