Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- Maggie Foxx of Bedford was one of 60 girls across the nation selected to learn professional softball skills at the legendary Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida. On Saturday, the 17-year-old catcher learned techniques as a softball backstop from coach Aubree Munro, an Olympic softball silver medalist. Foxx said, '“[Softball] definitely moves a lot faster. It’s super fun to be able to up my game to the level of the girls who are playing here and just figure out the little intricacies of baseball vs. softball so I can get to a higher level.”' (MLB.com)
- Fifteen animals rescued from a Bedford home last week weren't the only dogs in need of care at the Animal Rescue League this week. A 4 months old dog named Beanie arrived unexpectedly at the shelter. She was born blind and has to reply on learning her surroundings. Now at the shelter, she will be starting over. Beanie is a sweet special dog that needs "a new home, a fresh start, a supportive family." Find out more here: (Animal Rescue League of NH via Facebook)
- A shoutout to Sunrise Labs of Bedford for providing food and water for the stations along The Rose Mountain Rumble fundraiser bike ride. This annual event to benefit The Piscataquog Land Conservancy nonprofit, now in its ninth year, brought in $15,000 to support PLC's mission to conserve land, water, and wildlife of 23 communities in southern New Hampshire.
