One Person Dead, One Injured In Early Morning Goffstown House Fire
Firefighters arrived to smoke, fire showing from a home on Sonny Avenue Monday, while a person yelled for help from the second-floor window.
GOFFSTOWN, NH — One person has died, and another is recovering from injuries from an early morning fire on Sonny Avenue in Goffstown on Monday.
Goffstown Fire and police responded to 19 Sonny Avenue for a report of a fire with a person trapped on the second floor of the two-story home. Firefighters arrived at about 12:20 a.m. and found someone calling for help from the second-floor window. Firefighters also had heavy smoke on the outside of the building and visible fire on the first floor of the building.
Firefighters made entry into the home and discovered the victim inside. The victim was removed from the home, where resuscitation attempts were made but were unsuccessful. Another person rescued from the house was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and is being treated.

Identification of the victim and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy that will take place at the NH State Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord, according to NH Fire Marshal Sean Toomey.
Toomey said it was important to have working smoke alarms in your home. In the event of an alarm activation or visible smoke or fire, immediately exit your home and call 911. Keep exits clear and accessible and have a home fire escape plan.
