Pill Found in Trick or Treat Candy May be a Supplement
Bedford Police release additional details into Halloween incident.
The investigation is ongoing into trick or treat candy that appears to have been tampered with in Bedford.
Bedford Police Detective Matt Fleming said the suspicious candy, which was given to a 6-year-old girl, was wrapped in the form of a "kiss" containing a pill that preliminary investigation indicates may be a commercial-grade dietary supplement, not a narcotic.
He said the pill is being sent to a lab for testing to confirm the specific chemical makeup.

In the meantime, Fleming is urging parents and children to thoroughly inspect all candy obtained during trick or treating, especially in the area of Technology Drive, and to report anything that seems like it make have been tampered with immediately to Bedford Police at 472-5113.
"When we're talking about a 6-year-old girl here who found this, of course, we're thankful she didn't eat it and instead reported it to her parents," he said, "but we're certainly still concerned and encouraging parents to be extra vigilant in inspecting their children's candy this year."

Fleming said investigators are currently unsure as to the motive of the incident - whether it was to scare people or a legitimate threat – but noted that Bedford Police are taking the incident very seriously.
At this time, no further details are available about the investigation.
