Pursuit Starting In Barrington Through Several Towns, Ends In Hooksett

A man reportedly fled from a crash, and a police pursuit went on 101 West through towns including Epping, Auburn, and Hooksett.

HOOKSETT, NH — A man is in custody after a pursuit that spanned from Barrington to Hooksett, where several law enforcement agencies located him on Tuesday at the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.

An incident appears to have started in Barrington shortly after 6:30 p.m. when reports came in for a vehicle involved in an accident and fled the scene. Several law enforcement agencies, including local police, Rockingham County Sheriffs, New Hampshire State Police, and Hillsborough County Sheriffs.

The vehicle, which was described as a blue “CR-V type vehicle,” reportedly had lane control issues as police engaged in the pursuit and, on Route 101, reached speeds estimated to be 100 mph.

The vehicle traveled 101 West through multiple towns, took Exit 2 in Auburn, and continued north on Hooksett Road. Police attempted to use tire deflation devices several times however the vehicle changed direction.

In Hooksett, the man driving the car stopped and ran into the woods adjacent to the SNHU campus and was described as wearing jeans, a white shirt, and no shoes. Law enforcement set up a perimeter to seal off the area and began to search using officers on foot, K-9 teams, and drone teams. People on the SNHU campus indicated they had been asked to put a shelter-in-place while police searched the area.

After an extensive period of time, the man was located near one of the SNHU sports fields and was taken into custody. A short time after he was in custody Hooksett Fire was dispatched to Lincoln Hall for a patient who had a dog bit. Hooksett firefighters gave medical attention to a man in the back of a state police cruiser, the man was not transported to the hospital.

Radio transmissions indicated the man was remaining in the custody of state police and was being transported to the Troop A barracks in Epping.
