Residents Safely Escape 2-Alarm Fire On Elizabeth Way In Bedford
Firefighters from several cities and towns arrived to heavy smoke on the second floor. The house was heavily damaged by the fire
BEDFORD, NH - Bedford Fire and police responded to a reported house fire on Elizabeth Way, and the call escalated to a 2-alarm fire Friday.
Fire and police arrived at about 5:30 p.m. to heavy smoke on the second floor, a Bedford Police officer attempted to make entry but was driven back by the thick black smoke inside the house.
Firefighters quickly made entry into the single-family house to search for occupants, it was quickly verified the people in the house had self-evacuated safely.

Bedford Fire set up a ladder truck in front of the house while crews knocked down the fire in a bedroom and removed windows to ventilate smoke from the residence.
Mutual aid responded from several cities and towns to the scene to assist at the fire and some mutual aid provided station coverage at the Bedford fire stations.

EMS personnel evaluated the occupants that had evacuated from the house, and it is believed there were no serious injuries.
Crews continued to work to eject smoke and overhaul the room with the significant fire. The fire was quickly brought under control,
At this time it does not appear there were any injuries to firefighters working at the scene.
The residents cannot return to the house until repairs are made to the structure.
The fire investigation is being conducted by the Bedford Fire Department, at this time the cause and origin have not been determined at this time.
