- Poison ivy has flourished this year thanks to the wet summer weather. The dreaded three-leaf plant is food for wildlife, but causes misery for people. This year, Bedford resident Lauren Collins-Cline said she found it in her garden and other places. University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension specialist Malin Clyde noted that the oil from poison ivy can spread, even if a person doesn’t actually touch the plant. Poison ivy removal company owner Helaine Hughes added that it's important to wash everything because the oil can last three to five years, and you can touch many things before you get the rash. - Two Manchester men, Pedro Nunez, 20, and Ayei Akot, 22, were taken into custody after one of the suspects ran from police following a Saturday morning accident on Spring Street in Manchester. A caller said a woman was struck by a vehicle, and people were fighting at the scene. When police arrived at 2:35 a.m, they found a man lying in the road with serious injuries. A witness said he had seen an unknown woman get hit by a vehicle and that the man was assaulted. According to police, a witness who intervened was also assaulted and his backpack was stolen.
