MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Manchester, with a lengthy criminal history including past bank robberies, is heading back to prison for up to 60 months, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jesse Hippolite, 37, was sentenced to prison on a single bank robbery count after robbing the Granite State Credit Union on Elm Street in Manchester on Feb. 4. He pleaded guilty in April. Hippolite was called “a prolific bank robber” by acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack, with a long history of victimizing bank employees to line his own pockets.

According to the Daily Mail, Hippolite was arrested about 12 years ago on robbery charges after posting on Facebook, using the name “Willie Sutton Jr.,” and bragging about the robberies. At the time, investigators believed he was involved in more than a dozen heists.

Ted E. Docks, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Boston Division, said Hippolite was “a crime spree unto himself,” due to all the banks he robbed before this credit union hit. In March 2012, he pleaded guilty to three counts, despite investigators accusing him of involvement in many more. Hippolite was released from prison in February 2023 and then moved to New Hampshire.

“This sentence nips his burgeoning bank robbery career in the bud and holds him accountable for menacing innocent people who are just trying to make an honest living,” he added. “This case is just one example of how the FBI continues to support our partners in pulverizing violent crime to improve public safety.”

In the Feb. 4 incident, Hippolite demanded $100,000 in $100 bills but fled the credit union with only $3,129. He was identified as surveillance footage from the incident was released by Manchester police.
