- The largest solar array in New Hampshire has been approved. Timothy Clougherty, Deputy Director of the city of Manchester public works department, spoke about the long-anticipated project in a recent podcast. The capped landfill on Dunbarton Road in Manchester will be the location of a sparkling new solar array that will power up to 500 homes. After many years of discussion, the forward-thinking solar panel project was approved by the Aldermen and is finally moving full speed ahead. City officials broke ground with Kearsarge Energy of Boston. The solar energy project is expected to be completed sometime this year. (Patch)
- An unexpected stowaway: If you fly Southwest Airlines from the Manchester-Boston regional airport, you may know that the airline allows pets to fly with you as long as they meet airline requirements and can fit in an approved carrier under the seat. A couple flying on Southwest to Las Vegas, Nevada made headlines this week when their pet unknowingly became a stowaway in their suitcase.Southwest airlines discovered that one of their suitcases was over the weight limit. When they opened the bag, they were surprised to find the family's Chihuahua hiding in a cowboy boot. The Southwest agent kindly offered to take care of the visibly upset dog while the family was away. The next time you fly, make sure you know where your pets are. (WMUR)
- The Bedford Police Department is asking for help to Turn the Town Red during the National Red Ribbon Week Drug-Prevention Initiative. Police Chief John Bryfonski asked the community to join the Bedford Police Department and BeBold, a Bedford-based, non-profit drug awareness, education, and prevention coalition, to show support for the National Red Ribbon Week drug-prevention initiative from Oct. 23-31. Residents and businesses will be hanging red lights and/or red bows or ribbons on their homes and businesses in a show of support to help keep Bedford drug and alcohol free.
