- The Special Election for State Representative for Bedford will be held on Tuesday, September 7th. Linda Rea Camarota and Catherine A. Rombeau are vying for the open seat left by State Rep. David Danielson, who died earlier this year. (Bedford Patch)
- Liam Bascle, a 7-year-old Bedford resident with a rare form of cancer, made his soccer debut on Saturday with help from Make-A-Wish New Hampshire. He was named honorary captain of the Bedford High School soccer team and scored 10 goals, including the winning goal. (WMUR Manchester)
- Bedford resident Michael Pelletier joined the New Hampshire Army National Guard after losing a nephew in 9/11. He was deployed twice to Iraq in 2004 and Kuwait in 2010. He felt called to serve, and is optimistic about the future of Iraq and Afghanistan, “I’m still hoping for the best.” (The Union Leader)
- How will New Hampshire cities and towns spend over $4 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds and over $9 million additional funding awarded to the state? Federal funds will be distributed to cities and towns for Covid 19 recovery and new infrastructure spending including roads, sewers, and energy. The Federal funds must be spent by the end of 2026. - Plans for new commuter rail train service in Manchester, Bedford, and Nashua are gaining steam. Amtrack representative met with state and local officials in Manchester last week to discuss project updates that will open up new economic opportunities for the state. With the infrastructure deal making its way through congress, NH Representative Chris Pappas said, “This is an idea whose time has come.” (Concord Monitor)
