Storm Causes Crashes, Power Outages in NH

No power outages reported in Bedford.

UPDATE, 10:20 A.M.: Power has been restored in Londonderry. According to PSNH, this morning's outage was due to a motor vehicle accident.

In terms of storm impact, Bedford schools are closed today, and there were two accidents of note, namely a Thursday night rollover on New Boston Road and an accident with injuries this morning at the intersection of Route 101 and Route 114.

Bedford, however, has not been impacted by the most recent storm in terms of power outages. Still, more than 1,500 Londonderry electric customers are without power this morning, according to Public Service of New Hampshire.

A total of 1,960 PSNH customers have no electricity, and 1,539 of them are in Londonderry. Litchfield also has 161 customers without power, and Manchester 29. The power company says the estimated time of restoration for Londonderry is 9 a.m.

Unitil and the New Hampshire Electric Co-op are reporting no outages at this hour, but that could change as the heavy, wet snow continues to fall. Some areas have already gotten as many as 6 inches of snow.

Reports are that major highways and back roads alike are pretty slippery, and the maximum speed limit on roads like Interstate 93, Interstate 95, the Everett Turnpike and Route 101 has been reduced to 45 mph.

The Eagle-Tribune is reporting that there is about a 30-mile backup on I-93 south due to the storm.

There have been several reports of crashes throughout southern New Hampshire, including on I-95 north in Hampton, the Spaulding Turnpike south in Dover, and Route 101 east in Raymond. Accidents have also been reported in Hillsboro, Boscawen and Epsom.

Many schools throughout southern New Hampshire are also closed this morning due to the storm.
